Wat het die boom gesien? Slaap hulle of nie

In the Garden of Gethsemane, there stands an ancient tree.
A silent witness to generations of tears, prayers, and whispers of the soul.
One night, around 2000 years ago, that tree felt something different—
a struggle in the air, a war between light and darkness.

Under its branches, a man was praying.
A stone’s throw away, three friends were supposed to keep watch.
But sleep overcame them, even as heaven responded to the man’s cries.
His sweat fell like blood to the earth, soaking the roots of the old tree.

That night, Satan had asked to sift them like wheat.
And as the tree stood in the light of Christ’s presence,
it felt the heaviness of darkness pressing on the three sleeping men.

Jesus woke them:
"Can’t you stay awake and pray with Me?"

A crowd approached, and Jesus simply said: “I AM.”
The soldiers fell to the ground.
A kiss from Judas pierced the silence—betrayal in its most intimate form.

Peter, who had promised to protect Jesus, drew his sword,
but Jesus healed even the one who came to arrest Him—
because everyone that night, even Malchus, was called to witness the supernatural.

Fear scattered the disciples.
Peter followed at a distance, only to later deny Jesus three times—
as the rooster crowed, his heart broke.

And what about us?

Are we asleep when we’re meant to be awake?
Have we, like Judas, let the enemy into our hearts?
Have we denied Him with our silence, our compromise, our secret sins?

Eventually, another tree gave its life—
to become a cross.

There, Jesus was nailed.
Forsaken so we could be forgiven.

Darkness covered the earth.
A Roman centurion declared: “Surely, this was the Son of God.”
A thief asked: “Lord, remember me…”
Jesus replied: “Today, you will be with Me in Paradise.”

What is your choice today?
Will you acknowledge Him… or deny Him?
