Quartz Rush: 700kg Spirit Quartz Haul from Boekenhouthoek!
I take you along on an epic buying day at Boekenhouthoek—a trip I’ve been planning for weeks, about two hours away from my store. I’ve got a space outside my shop where I sell lower-grade amethyst and quartz by weight, and my stock was dwindling. So, I went to Boekenhouthoek with hopes of finding more, and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a quartz lover’s paradise, though all the stones are covered in iron coatings. Beneath that rusty surface, however, could be stunning light purple amethyst waiting to be uncovered.
The day turned into a frenzy as more and more sellers arrived, eager to offload their lower-quality quartz and amethyst. What makes Boekenhouthoek unique is that the houses are built on top of the quartz deposit, so the locals tunnel into the ground—even under their homes—to extract the crystals. It’s like watching a scene of termite ants digging, all happening in unprotected yards where children play nearby.
The buying became intense as my vehicle filled up and my funds started to run out. But I managed to walk away with nearly 700 kg of Spirit Quartz specimens, all of which need to be cleaned. Of course, just the day before, my pressure washer broke down, because life loves to throw those curveballs! Despite the chaos, I kept my mission alive to replenish my shop’s resources.
This is my day buying Spirit Quartz and I hope you enjoyed the video and that I have earned your subscription.
