Unveiling Mozambique's Quartz Treasures
Unveiling Mozambique's Quartz Treasures. See how we unpack a shipment of stunning quartz plates straight from the mines of Mozambique! The excitement was palpable as we eagerly delved into the bags, discovering treasures waiting to be unveiled. It was like opening Christmas presents.
The quartz plates, packed meticulously in large bags with grass and paper packaging, revealed a remarkable detail upon inspection – many of them were adorned with roots, indicating their shallow burial depths. This observation offers intriguing insights into their geological origins.
Sorting through the plates, we meticulously separated the lower-quality pieces from the top ones and proceeded to cut the bases, ensuring each specimen could stand proudly, showcasing its best features. As we examined the clear and smoky varieties, our attention was drawn to dark, irregular sprays within them. A quick Google search identified these inclusions as Goethite, a rarity that adds a unique allure to our collection.
Intriguingly, we pondered the origin of similar specimens labeled as from Brazil or China, sparking a hypothesis that some specimens might have traveled from Mozambique to China and maybe was mislabeled, interesting thought.
The cutting process continues, they have to show their best face, LOL. With Oxalic acid as our cleaning agent, and a careful test run to ensure surface integrity, we embarked on the transformative journey of revealing the true splendor of these natural wonders. See how we cleaned them in the next video.
